Introductory course teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and explains the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition.

This is a five-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom, then transitioning to a range for live fire. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. The updated course includes the required blocks on suicide prevention, de-escalaiton techniques and legal requirements. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate. Additional time is set aside in a small classroom session to address individual student needs and questions.

Five hour course: $175 includes live fire; both revolver and semi-automatic handguns are used with safe, unique Simmunition platforms especially well suited for those new to shooting

This course is approved for the Massachusetts firearm “License To Carry” as well as “Firearms Identification Card”.
